Sarah Jane Mc Cullough Play Area

A place where we can all play together....

The friends and family of Sarah Jane Mc Cullough envisioned a playground where every child, regardless of capability, can play together. To date, over $129,000 has been raised through the efforts of the Mc Cullough family, to honor the memory of Sarah Jane, who graced us with her presence, for only a very short time.  Marilyn Mc Cullough, who has led this campaign for over six years, has selected playground equipment that is not only "universally inclusive" but is also stimulating to the visual and tactile senses.

The Rotary Club of Chariho has been honored to assist Marilyn in this memorial to Sarah Jane.

The Chariho School Committee, on January 13, 2009, voted to accept the donation of the playground equipment, to be built as an addition to an existing playground at Richmond School.

We are happy to report that excavation began April 13, the playground was installed on April 21, and the surface was installed on May 16.

The playground pieces were developed by Landscape Structures, a provider of innovative playground equipment. Their web site says that they are committed to creating inspiring play experiences for children while honoring the environment.  The following depicts some of the pieces that were selected, with descriptives by Mrs. Mc Cullough.
